Services

Confidential Budget Counseling:
For advice on how to successfully manage your personal finances, schedule an appointment with one of our certified counselors who will review your expenses, income and spending habits. Appointments are available for in-person or telephone counseling, day or evening. Call 1-800-642-2227 to make an appointment or to receive immediate help. (Click here for more information on budgeting)

Debt Management:
If budget counseling and money management advice is not enough, you may need to enroll in a Debt Management Plan. A Debt Management Plan (DMP) is a debt repayment program in which you make one monthly payment to our agency that we then disburse to your creditors. In many cases, a DMP will reduce your total monthly payment and the monthly interest you are currently paying your creditors. DMPs are voluntary programs that serve a dual role in helping consumers repay debt, and helping creditors receive the money owed to them. (Click here for more information on the DMP)

Educational Seminars:
We provide educational workshops and programs to a wide variety of civic organizations, educational groups and community businesses. Popular topics include: Budgeting and Money Management Workshops, Establishing Credit, Understanding Credit Reports and Using Credit Wisely. In addition to educational seminars CCCS of MD & DE, Inc. is partnered with the Councils on Economic Education in Maryland and Delaware. Through this partnership courses are taught in the classroom from Kindergarten through High School in Maryland and Delaware public and private schools. (Click here for more information on Educational Programs).

Housing Counseling
Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) has been a trusted name in counseling since 1966.
We are approved by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide counseling, education and advice in housing issues to new and existing homeowners.  Our services included:

Mortgage Delinquency and Foreclosure Prevention Counseling
CCCS offers confidential counseling to help you understand your options and how to deal with your situation.  No matter if you are just beginning to get behind or are more seriously delinquent, our trained housing counselors can either meet with you in person or by phone.  CCCS can help homeowners assess their financial situation, rework budgets and contact lenders, if necessary, to develop a plan to address the mortgage delinquency.  There is no charge for these confidential sessions.

Reverse Mortgage Counseling
Reverse Mortgages can help people on fixed incomes supplement their retirement income or pay for things like home repairs, prescriptions and medical care.  CCCS' experienced counselors can provide personal counseling to help you decide if a Reverse Mortgage is right for you.  Along with other requirements, the home owner must be at least 62 years old and live in the home for the majority of the year.

Reverse mortgage counseling does have a fee. For more details on the fee call 866-731-8486
